Alcohol Problem? Why Not Try Hypnosis?
Think about all the twelve-step meetings, outpatient clinics, and addiction services available right now. In all of that, I have never once come across someone saying they gave hypnosis a shot. Have you? It surprises me, because an addict usually needs every tool they can lay hands on.
I am not suggesting anyone treat it as a cure or the single answer. What I am saying is that it could sit alongside the rest of someone's recovery as one more piece of the work. Paired with a hypnotist who actually knows what they are doing, ideally one who has already helped people through weight struggles and other compulsions, it is hard to see the downside.
There is a practical angle too. Run it in a group and the cost per person drops, which lowers the barrier for someone who would never book a private session on their own. Sometimes people will walk into a room together that they would never enter alone.
And even if it did nothing for the drinking itself, the person would come away having learned how to settle down and relax without reaching for the drug or the behavior they usually lean on. That alone is worth something.
