Respect And Responsibility Go Hand In Hand
Respect and responsibility tend to travel together, each one leaning on the other. Act responsibly and respect tends to follow. Earn someone's respect and a sense of responsibility toward them usually comes along for the ride. The pairing works in both directions.
So who actually owns their mistakes anymore, plainly and without ducking? Respect has a way of returning what you put into it. There's an old idea that when a person respects you, you find yourself respecting them back, almost by reflex.
And trust: who among the people around you can you count on to behave that way? There was a time when having honor, for men and for women both, carried real weight. I keep wondering what became of that.
